So we did a spook alley in our basement again this year for Halloween.
Remember my random Halloween obsession 2 years ago? No? That's okay. But I was seriously all over it.
And then some.
Then last year I had a new baby and it barely crossed my mind that we should do something--so we didn't.
Then when Halloween started rolling around this year, and since I didn't have an excuse NOT to do it, we did a huge party, spook alley, costume, crazy Halloween thing again.
Thanks for all who came--and for all who didn't come because our house was way too crowded. We had a great turn out with some great people but I seriously need to limit my guest list next time :)
Anyway, the downstairs kid-friendly spook alley was a huge hit. And the biggest plus was that Amber and I put it up in like 2 afternoons which seemed way easier than last time ...
So here it is for those who were not able to come enjoy it with us this Halloween!
(The pictures were taken a few days after Halloween so everything looks pretty sad ...)
The tour:
(Insert scary music here)
First, we descend down the dark basement stairs ... dun dun dun!
oh no!! What is behind the doooooooor?
We emerge in blackness ...
Around the first corner we step into a creepy fenced in graveyard .... the spirits of the dead are still haunting the dark and dreary graveyard ... it is dark, dreary, and the fog is blowing in ... (imagine fog machine going off)
(AND keep in mind the flash on the camera really takes a lot out of the scariness of our spook alley)
Next we hear bubbling and a throaty cackle! A nasty witch is beckoning you to try some of her newest concoction! Something green is gurgling and bubbling and smoking in her cauldron ... and by the looks of her table of ingredients; poison, crawling insects, poiiison and blooood; you do NOT want to try it!
(we had her pot filled with dry ice--a fun added touch)
Everything is quiet around the next corner. We turn into the haunted library, ordinary at first glance, but who is that sitting reading in the chair?
Mike sat in the chair and quoted the tale of "The soldier and DEATH!" which title you must read as if you're hearing Mike do one of his awesome crazy accents.
Everybody loved this part. --sorry the pictures definitely don't do justice ...
If that wasn't enough to give you the shivers, around the next corner was the hall of spiders. An infestation of enlarged eight-legged arachnids are hiding throughout the endless mesh of spider webs. Move quickly and watch where you step! (notice the black light fun)
Whew!! You made it!
Now we are in the last room of our journey. Here's where bodies have rotted in the dungeon for their disobedience. The rats come and go as they please and they are hungry for some flesh!
(there was also a strobe light to just give it some added creepy ambiance)
And Congratulations you made it out alive!!! Bwah ha ha ha ha!!!!
It was a good time again. Maybe we'll do it again next year :)
So yeah, next year come trick-or-treating at our house!!!
