finally

took pictures of my girls in their Easter dresses!

You would really think that 1:00 church would make it just that much easier to make it on time.

I dare say that it does NOT!

It's killing me slowly.

I used to bathe the kids and do any lesson prep the night before. But because of the 2 EXTRA HOURS we have before church (than last year) I feel like I can apparently get everything done (sleep in, make a big breakfast, bathe the girls, fix a crockpot dinner, prepare singing time material, bathe myself ...)  Don't ask me why I do that to myself.
So, we're often running to make it to church before it begins.

Which is why I did not get any pictures of my girls in their adorable Easter dresses a month ago. (Thanks again Grandma Beva!)

So before running out the door we finally snapped a few pictures. In really bad lighting ... ignore that.

And here they are!

when it rains ...

So the past few weeks where I've just struggled coming up with something-anything-to write about came to an abrupt halt.

Well, for the next few weeks at least, then I'm sure everything will go back to the same ol' same ol' humdrum of our everyday lives.

We've actually been keeping ourselves busy.

It all started last weekend with out random jaunt to Utah. While this is easily our most likely weekend destination spot, it doesn't mean it was any less exciting.
(Brynn helping me pack our bag. She fabulous at the fake squinty smile when a camera comes out)

Mike signed up to compete in another triathlon. So we piled in the van and went with him. Mostly the kids just played with the cousins...which is why they had so much fun. And I got to go with Mike to the race without the kids (thanks again R & K!)

And as you may have guessed ...
Mike did awesome!

(ready to start)

(Mike's least confident area is the swim but he did seriously great! Especially with longer lanes)

(And the bike leg where he kicked trash!)

(transition area: he chatted with me like he was just working out--not like he was actually racing people right. that. second!)

(I didn't get any good pictures of the run. Here he is right about at the finish line.)

He came in 4th in his age group (but was really only within like 1:40 of being first).  And excitingly he found out he was (I think) 11th place overall with his bike split. That's like over 150 people he beat. Crazy!
It was fun.

We also got a bit of time to play with cousins and to celebrate cousin Jeff's birthday. And to get really excited for Carina's birthday which is coming up in just a week!
(thought this pic turned out adorable. yes we posed them)

(and this picture makes me just smile. Here's Carina obviously adoring her cousin. She tells me she's going to marry him when she grows up.)
And other random fun fact: together with my brother's kids we have a 6, a 5, a 4, a 3, a 2, a 1, and a 0 year old. Amazing right? It only happens for 2 weeks out of the year.

Anyway, sadly enough we had to rush home Sunday (4 hours in the car) for our ward's Mother's Day program = 2 musical numbers in sacrament meeting+singing time for the nursery + singing time in both junior and senior primary for me. I was exhausted a bit.
This week will prove to be busy too, as will next week when we hit Mike and my 7th anniversary, Carina's 4th birthday and the end of school for Danna.
Be ready for pictures ...

musicals

My husband thinks I'm a nerd.

I like musicals.

"Like"--"Love"--"Obsessed With"-- whatever you want to call it.

And I've been on a kick recently. My librarian probably thinks I'm slightly insane too cause I keep checking out musicals from her every week.

They never seem to get old, I can watch them again an again. Or listen to the soundtracks over and over. Pandora has a whole broadway musical CHANNEL. It's great.

I think my obsession started in high school when I played in the pit orchestra for a few of our high school musicals. Funnest thing in the WORLD to do!
No exaggeration.
It probably would be fun to be an actor/dancer/singer in one too but those skills I just don't have.  boo.

So I guess my deep down secret wish is to star in a musical.  (Like I said--nerd)

Wanna know one of my secret favorite things about my husband? He can act really well. And his singing voice ain't all that bad either. I think if he were ever to be in a musical someday I would Really-Really-Ultra--and then some--have the Biggest (silently scream inside my mind) teenage crush on him. Even though we're already married.
It would seriously make my day.
(I think all who know him should subtly encourage him to try it out sometime)

Anyway I changed my blog playlist just to show you all how great they can be (even though there's a serious lack of musical options to choose from)
